Why I think PPSMI is otherwise...

Well, whatever that I have here for this entry would be based on my opinions on the opinions' of others (not entirely...).

A few years ago, PPSMI (Pengajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Inggeris) aka The Teaching and Learning of Science and Mathematics in English was implemented and there were objections from some and were hurrayed by some. And now the Education Ministry has decided to abolish this policy in 2012 and of course objections and hurrays come from parents, students, educationists etc.

I don't want to do a pros and cons here because all these do not apply to all. All I can say is that, some do benefit (good for them) and some lose a lot (not so good for them) from this policy. Overall, this policy is good but it does not really help those who lack the ability in comprehending the language. So, this group of people really lose a lot, I must say. I mean, is it really a good idea to continue with it since we have more students who are not good in the English language (not to mention the teachers)?

Anyways, my brain is telling me this: "Isn't it already too late when it was implemented years ago?" After decades of being "brainwashed" by certain parties that learning the English Language iaitu (I quote) "Bahasa Penjajah" is a "threat" to our national language, which is the Malay Language, so, what made them think that implementing this policy would help at all? The majority (brainwashed) of the population do not want it. Only the minority wants it. Shouldn't they open up these brainwashed population's mind before forcing the policy on them? If they fail to do so, then they wouldn't have it implemented it in the first place. (We'd have saved billions of ringgit that comes from the tax payers' money--my money too).

I hate being brainwashed because I was living my life "brainwashed" for years thinking it's the truth. When I started to open my eyes and look around and see all the false things that were embedded into my mind, I felt like I was a puppet, a toy, a tool for somebody bigger than me to get what they want. The last thing I want to feel is -- being stupid and not realising that I was stupid. At the end of the day, it's all politics...yes, politics...urghh! How I hate that word or any words that is related to it, but ELECTION is a very powerful word but (again) sometimes are manipulated. See!!? Politics. Urghh! I was brainwashed that all politics is a dirty game. Forget about your turbo...Brainwash...lagi POWER.

So, you see. Since, PPSMI will be abolished anyway. Parents asked that PPSMI to be kept as an option. Hmmm...I pity the teachers. Parents who are not from the educational background will never understand the hardship faced by the teachers. Teachers are really underpaid, you know? Not only, they have to take care of their children, they have to take care of the studentsssssss and the studentssssssss' parents.

Parents, without teachers, you are nothing.
Parents, your parents respect your teachers.
Remember that.
Also, remember this.
Parents, you are not your children.
Parents, are your children brought up the same way your parents brought you up?
Don't lie ah!
Haih, parents complain that the teachers are not teaching in school. How do they know that? Because their children told them. Never occur to them, their children would lie to them to and let the teacher be the scapegoat to get away from trouble is it?

Let's go Home

"The one who reaches me first will follow me home!" And so, she starts running and the little ones start chasing her. Eventually, one reaches her and she carries it and pats it on the head lovingly.
"I'll buy you." she says. "Oh, this fella will be slightly bigger than the average Shih Tsu." The pet shop owner says. "Really? I like him. He looks smart." As she presses its belly against her chest like any mother would carry a baby.

"Let's get you some puppy food, puppy milk, bowl for your food and water, doggie house and some chew toys for you." She lowered her body and puts the puppy on its feet and watches the puppy runs excitedly towards its siblings. They jump up and down, roll here and there. She watches from a distance while browsing for the puppy's necessities. The puppies look like a bunch of fur balls moving, bouncing. "How adorable..." She smiles as she thinks to herself.

She lays the things on the counter one by one and says, "Michael, surely I'm allowed to be given more discounts. This is a lot, you know?" "Aiyah! Can! Can! Can! No problem! "The pup is 550, I'll give you 500. The rest would be...umm.." Tick..tack.tick..tick..tap..tap..and finally he says, "Okay, the total is 720. I give you this collar and leash free of charge since you're  regular here and discounts for the dry food." "Thank you, Michael. Is there anything else that I should add? In case, if I missed anything." "Okay, wait. Let me check ahh...arr...you forgot the shampoo la dey." he smirks as he says it. "And the pup is already vaccinated." "Aduh! I totally forgot about the shampoo!" He goes to the rack and picks a puppy shampoo and puts it in the plastic bag. "Here, total now is 740 after discount for the shampoo." "Thanks."

She carries the plastic bags as one of the employees carries the doggie house to the car. Then, she goes to the back of the shop, pats the Golden Retriever puppies, the 8-month-old rottweiler named Max, Michael's Chihuahuas, and of course the Shih Tsus. "Come now, puppy." She calls out to the puppy. It excites her when the puppy she picks runs to her. She goes down to her knee on the floor and carries the puppy as it jumps up to her. Before they leave, "Say bye bye to Michael and your brother and sisters."

"You'll love it there. I will care for you. And definitely spoil you." She whispers into the puppy's ear as they walk to the car. She puts his face against hers, gives it a kiss before putting him in the doggie house at the back seat of the car and jumps to the driver's seat. She looks at the rear view mirror and says, "Piku, let's go home."

Gordon drives me around town...

It's not any Gordon you can find in the world. Yes, it's Mr. Gordon Ramsay himself, the well known chef. It was after I finished my meal at a hotel's restaurant. He was waiting for me at the hotel lobby when I was heading towards the entrance. He asked me about the food and I told him it was fine. He didn't seem to believe me. (Yah! It was not worth the money I paid or the food, the food was just edible). Then, I spilled the beans, I told him that the bloody 5-Star Hotel shouldn't be serving food we can easily get from the roadside stalls!

Then, he asked to jump in the car..okay...my first thought was hmmm...car? I've never seen him drive other than he riding on his bike. So, here we were cruising down the road with restaurants along the sides of the road. And I saw 'Spanish Escapade' sign board. I remembered I've read a review on that restaurant, which was fairly good or above average. I asked the chef, he said, he was there, and the food was good. I looked (Wait for me...baby) as we passed the Spanish restaurant.

Let's go back to what I intended to blog about. Yes, when you're with a chef especially when you are not one. You expect him to cook something to impress your taste buds but I'm a no one special to him so he's not going to cook anything special to comfort me from the meal I tasted at the hotel. It was part of the assignment anyway. So, back in the kitchen, there were lots..I mean LOTS of bowls with different types of ingredients in it. And...I can't remember any of it and I fear the worst, that was the chef cursing and swearing at me. I cannot stand shouting or screaming and loud people. My ears would ring and make me really uncomfortable that my facial expression would change.

But, the odd thing was...the chef was neither shouting nor cursing. He simply repeated everything patiently. Hmm...I had mixed feelings not knowing if he was going to blow anytime that moment or was he simply in a good mood?

Then I opened my eyes, "Oh...now, I get it."

It's okay, miss.

Here's where I think that almost every one would have mistaken the purpose of this entry by judging the title. I don't know what to feel, I had mixed feelings until now. I think I would definitely spread this to all to my future students. I was utterly disgusted and sad with their response (yes, THEIR, it's neither his nor her but THEIR).

We had a progressive test yesterday, and a LOT of them were absent as usual. I told them, we had the test, and informed the number of people who have sat for the test (which was 4) and the rest would have to settle for a ZERO. And yes, the title of the entry was their response. How can they just settle with just that egg?

I don't understand students nowadays anymore... They are taking everything for granted and I pity their parents. Their tuition fees are expensive and they're not from a very well-to-do family. Argh! I don't even want to get started with the seniors. It's like going back to high school where bullies happened. I just hope, they'll grow up and stop fooling around with their parents' money and the PTPTN is merciless after they graduate unless they managed to get 1st class, which I really doubt.
